Purpose (why): Autism continues to be misdiagnosed and misunderstood. As more clients are receiving the diagnosis greater understanding is needed. The neurological differences in Autism require clinicians to approach counseling in a different way. Behavioral strategies, visual strategies, and social strategies are needed to work with this unique and varied population.
Method (how): This course will employ the use of training videos, lecture, and role play training. There will be plenty of time for questions and the trainees are happy to tailor this training as participants see helpful.
Audience (who): This training is most appropriate for licensed therapists seeking to learn the basics of working with Autistic clients.
