Karla is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Master’s degree in Counseling from Cincinnati Christian University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati. Karla is trained in Functional Family Therapy, and has experience working with at-risk youth and their families. She also has experience working with adults, couples and adolescents.
Karla has worked in community and agency settings focusing on a variety of mental health issues such as: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, women’s concerns, relationship problems, and substance use.
Utilizing a person-centered, strength-based approach to working with clients, Karla believes that healing occurs in a warm, genuine, supportive and non-judgmental environment. She also believes in empowering clients through discovering their strengths and building on those strengths for growth and change.
Karla draws from the principals of solution-focused, acceptance and commitment, and functional family therapeutic models. She can also assist clients who would like to explore spiritual issues as well as pursue Christian-based counseling. Karla utilizes mindfulness interventions to assist clients in managing their thoughts and emotions. She is passionate about helping individuals to live more satisfying lives and increase their over-all level of well-being.
Karla is a doctoral candidate for an EdD in Counseling Psychology. She is also working towards her clinical license in counseling.
