Chole G. Mullen, M.D.

Chole Mullen

Practices at the Fairfield office.

Dr. Mullen or Dr. Chole (long vowels)- a Mexican name of her Dad’s Grandmother. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the oldest of six children. Her parents were working class and bilingual. They were, as most Latinos, very family oriented, and hard-working people.

She attended Webster College, married then moved to Cincinnati with her husband. She attended Edgecliff College/Xavier University in Cincinnati as Chole West and had her Pre-Med Studies done and had a B.A. in Sociology.

She was admitted to the University of Cincinnati Medical College for her Medical Doctor degree. Her four year Psychiatry Residency was continued there. She worked at the Veteran’s Hospital for several years during her training and again provided disability evaluations years later.

She served on the Psychiatry Faculty at U.C. Psychiatry Hospital. She was an Assistant Professor and taught Psychiatry to Residents and took care of inpatients for three years at that time. She also worked at Drake Hospital for chronic medically ill patients doing Psychiatric Consultations and provided treatments for a year. For 20 years she worked as an Outpatient Psychiatrist at NorthKey Community Care Centers from 1993-2013 and primarily worked with children and adolescents. She is a General Psychiatrist and works with all ages with many kinds of problems. For five years she was the Outpatient Medical Director and supervised ten psychiatrists, seven R.N.s, 2 A.R.N.P.s. She had a Private Practice for five years for several evenings while she worked at NorthKey.

Dr. Mullen continues to do some outpatient work and episodic inpatient hospital work with patients. She has been successful in her work with difficult people if they are motivated for improving their mental health.

“l enjoy my work, helping people get healthier, I like to work with other mental health professionals in the care of people. I have a lot of hope and faith in people and am very honest in my approach with individuals and families. I expect the same from people who see me as well. I also know people don’t change overnight. But I do expect movement forward and in the direction of health. Medications are often helpful by the time people come to me. Psychotherapy and group therapies are often the first stops before they come to me and that is best always.” Physical health is also addressed in sessions.

“I am honored to listen to you and be a part of your life and helping you in your efforts to get well”.

One patient told my staff “she listens and helped me more than any other psychiatrist”. That makes it all worthwhile.
